Flexible Seating: Student Organization

A big conversation that comes with flexible seating is..."Where are your students going to put all of their stuff?" Here is the real question though...

I'm not talking about glue sticks, crayons, pencils, etc. Those are all supplies that can be shared as community supplies. Think about your big ticket supplies. Notebooks, spirals, folders, etc. What items do you find yourself not finishing all of? What can you do without? How can you change your teaching so you don't need a spot for students to glue a notebook page?

  • Binder: Holds shared reading pages, math journal pages, & any content pages. (In the past I would keep morning work [word work] pages in there as well!)
  • 2 Composition Notebooks: Homework Journal & STEM Journal
  • 2 Folders: Take Home Folder & Writing Folder
  • Agenda

Hover over the images below to see how my students store their belongings!

And there you have it! Please let me know if you have any additional questions or other ideas in the comments below!
